Galle is regarded by UNESCO as a world heritage site for its culture and historical values. This town today is classified as a major tourist destination, with many attractions in and around for both the local and foreign visitors. The breeze of the sprawling mighty ocean, the unique cultures, the spicy food, attractive star class hotels, plush restaurants and the water sports combine all to make Galle an outstanding tourist destination.

The Galle Fort or better known as the Dutch Fort built by the Portuguese for its fortification stands as a historical monument to date, and considered as a world heritage site by UNESCO. This fort is built on a rocky peninsula belonging to the sea and as well to the land. It is also considered as the main attraction of the city, as it houses Churches, Banks, Souvenir Shops and Restaurants of many nationalities.
Madhu River is a wetland. This river flows through a terrain where it creates many islands and the eco system. This is a spot for a enjoyable boat ride. The rainforest which plays a major part in the eco system is paradise for the animal species as well as for fauna and flora.
Several turtle hatcheries can be found in the shores of Sri Lanka. Once they are hatched, these small creatures go back to the sea, but some try to be inhuman in this process. Many hatcheries are highlights in the sea shores of Galle. Some rare them as their hobby.
The Unawatuna Beach is regarded as the famous Beach in Sri Lanka. The shape of this beach is like a banana. Many locals as well as foreigners make it a point to visit this beach purely for its natural beauty. Sea lovers who go deep sea diving to witness the beautiful colored corals and is also identified for whale watching. This beach is surrounded by a plethora of fantastic hotels and restaurants which serve sea food in different styles.
Weligama Stilt Fishermen:
This village is famous for their unique fishing technique. Fishermen cast their nets to the sea and balance themselves on a 20 – 25 meter pole. These fishermen have a tremendous amount of patience till they are rewarded with their catch. It is a beautiful site to watch them at sunset.
