Annually this temple conducts a Buddhist Procession, where Elephants who are richly dressed is taken in procession and the Elephant who is looked after by the temple Priests, carries on its back the sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha.

This architecturally designed structure was built in the colonial days. It was there to commemorate the independence of Sri Lanka from the British Rule in 1948. Many state functions are held in the building such as the Independence Day celebrations, State Funerals and other Cultural Events which are usually attended by VIP and other Foreign Dignatories.
Galle Face Green:
The Galle Face Green is a 5 hectare ocean side urban park. It is a place where many people gather to spend some fun time especially with friends and family. Children enjoy flying kites and playing games of their choice, while the adults spend time chatting, and helping themselves with spicy street food and drinks which is positioned alongside the green, and enjoying the cool sea breeze.
